Choosing the Best Hair Extension Application Method for your clients...
Are you considering adding hair extensions to your service portfolio? Hair extensions are a great way to add length, volume, or texture to the hair?
There are sooo many application methods available, it can be overwhelming to decide which one is the best fit for your clients.
In this post, we'll explore some of the most popular hair extension application methods to help you make an informed decision.
1. Clip-in Extensions: Ideal for occasional wear and those who want versatility, clip-in extensions are temporary and can be easily applied and removed at home. They are great for adding volume and length for special occasions or everyday glam. However, they may not be suitable for those with very fine or thin hair, as the clips can weigh down the hair or become visible.
2. Tape-in Extensions: Tape-in extensions are great as a quick application method, they can be applied in as little as 10 minutes. They lie flat against the scalp, making them comfortable and virtually undetectable. They are suitable for most hair types and are easy to maintain. However, they require regular maintenance appointments to reposition and tighten the tapes as the natural hair grows.
3. Micro-ring or Micro-loop Extensions: These extensions are applied using small metal rings or loops that are clamped onto the natural hair. They offer a natural look and are less damaging than some other methods since they don't require heat or adhesives. However, they may not be suitable for very fine or fragile hair, as the metal rings can cause breakage if not installed or maintained properly, they can also slip quite easily on fine hair.
4. Sew-in or Weave Extensions: Sew-in extensions involve braiding the natural hair into cornrows or applying micro rings and then sewing the extensions onto them using a needle and thread. This method offers long-lasting results and is suitable for medium - thick hair types, including coarse and curly hair. However, it can be time-consuming to install and may cause tension or discomfort on the scalp if not done correctly.
5. Fusion or Bonded Extensions: Fusion extensions involve attaching individual strands of hair extensions to the natural hair using a keratin-based adhesive. They offer a seamless blend and natural look, but the application can be time-consuming. Additionally, the heat used during the fusion process can cause damage to the natural hair if not done properly.
Ultimately, the best hair extension application method depends on yours and your clients personal preferences, hair type, lifestyle, and budget. Additionally, proper maintenance and care are crucial for maintaining the health and longevity of the extensions, regardless of the application method.
